About Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists specialise in treatment of the body’s musculo-skeletal system i.e. the ligaments, muscles, tendons, joints and nerves that service them.

Physiotherapy courses are conducted by Universities and Institutes around Australia.  The Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland is a four year degree.  Entrants require and OP score of 1 or 2, depending on the year of application.

At your initial consultation your condition will be assessed in detail to determine its cause.  We will clearly explain to you the nature of your condition, the treatment required, your expected recovery time and what you can do to minimise the chances of recurrence.

Treatment is active and “hands-on”.  Your treatment program will be tailored to your condition and your particular lifestyle (work situation, sports participation).

Home exercise programs are used to hasten your recovery time.  It is important that you work together with your treating physiotherapist in this way to obtain optimal results.

Exercises will be specific to your injury condition and to the demands of your sport and workplace situations.  Graduated rehabilitation and return to sports programs are an essential component of treatment.

We stock a range of educational brochures in our waiting room for your information.
